Lindsay's Birthday Party

I had several Birthday Parties this year. One Surprise Party (I will post pictures when I get them), many dinners and one very important party at my house. The boys decorated the house, got me cake and ice cream and sang and danced for me. It was very special. I loved EVERY minute of it!! I am blessed!

Charles' 33rd Birthday

Charles turned 33 on June 17. He wanted to go to Taco's Garcia for his birthday. He too had to wear a NICE hat! He was not too happy about that! (About as happy as my mom!)

Charles I love you and I hope you had a wonderful birthday. You are my very best friend!!!!

Horse Races

For my mom's birthday my cousin got her bosses suite at the horse races. We were 5 floors up on the finish line. We sat in the air, had wonderful food and could step out on the balcony to watch the race. It was so much fun. The races will never be the same after that!

Ft. Worth Zoo

We went to the Zoo for mom's birthday. It was VERY hot, but we had a good time.

My Mom's Birthday

My mom had her 55th birthday at Jorges. She was born on June 7, 1954. She is my very best friend in the whole world and I love her dearly. We had a GREAT time! We also went to Dallas for Max's graduation. For her birthday in Dallas we went to the zoo, an art show and to the horse races. We had a wonderful time!

Hereford is in the past!

Hereford was a very enjoyable experience for me. I learned a LOT and loved everyone I worked with. I will miss it terribly, but as you all know, Charles and I have much bigger plans for us in our future. Here are some pictures of my students and coworkers.

Memorial Day

In Flanders Fields:

In Flanders fields the poppies blow

Between the crosses, row on row,

That mark our place; and in the sky

The larks, still bravely singing, fly

Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead.

Short days ago

We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

Loved, and were loved, and now we lie?In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:

To you from failing hands we throw

The torch; be yours to hold it high.

If ye break faith with us who die

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow in Flanders fields.

— Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)

May God Bless our Country.

High Plains Children's Home

Charles and I have been praying everyday for the last year for God to direct us where we are supposed to be, that we could guide and help the most children. We first thought that Boys Ranch was it. We continued to pray and God led us in the direction of High Plains Children's Home. We applied last Tuesday and had an interview on Thursday. We accepted the job on Friday. We feel very blessed.

This will be my last year teaching for a while and Charles' last day at Boys Ranch is June 7. We start at High Plains on June 9Th. We are very excited for what the future brings. Please keep us in your prayers so that we may do the best of our ability to help and guide these sweet, wonderful children. We will be living in the Axe house and we alternate between Axe and the Central house. We will have 8 boys ranging from 10-17. Thank you so much to everyone who was a reference and who has prayed with us. We love you all and we will keep you informed of your future endeavors.

This is the house we will be living in.

Agency History

In 1963, the Elders of the Southlawn and Southside Churches of Christ in Amarillo, Texas, conducted a study to determine the need for additional child care facilities in the Texas Panhandle. The data concluded that there was a definite need to be served.

In 1964, several interested Amarillo Churches of Christ met to develop preliminary plans to establish a children's home. Many of the area Churches of Christ pledged resources to assist in financing the future children's home. The Southlawn congregation was chosen to oversee and direct the new agency.

In 1967, after successfully completing the necessary Charter and Licensing requirements with the State of Texas, High Plains was ready to officially begin operations and accepting child placements. The original land for the location of the Home was west of Amarillo, near Wildorado. However, due to concerns that the remote location and travel distance might be prohibitive, a new 40-acre property was acquired just south of the Amarillo city limits. By October of 1967, the first cottage was completed and the High Plains Children's Home campus program was a reality.

In August of 1970, the Southlawn and Southside congregations merged to become what is known today as the Southwest Church of Christ. At that time it was decided that the new Board of Directors for High Plains Children's Home would be the Elders of the Southwest congregation. Today, the Southwest Elders appoint the Board of Directors selected from Church of Christ members from various congregations in the area.

High Plains Children's Home is a chartered, non-profit organization with the expressed purpose "to establish, maintain, endow and operate a Home for orphan, dependent, neglected, abandoned, abused and needy children." Today, High Plains Children's Home is a very prominent and productive agency serving the needs of children from all occurrences of life.

The Home is fully licensed by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services and The Texas Department of Health.

Easter 2009

I found this poem and thought it was pretty and true. May God bless each of you this Easter.

Easter Joy

Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,
That God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.

He could have saved Himself,
Calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.

So we live our lives for Jesus,
Think of Him in all we do.
Thank you Savior; Thank you Lord.
Help us love like you!

SPRING BREAK!!!

by Independence Forever

A time to rejuice your batteries
eat alot and clog up the arteries

celebrate with a little for a change
now you are out of school work's range

rejoice, you have a week to rest
you can now sleep at your best

but don't get lazy, do a little hard work now
show everyone that you still know how

have some fun in the soft soothing sun
you'll be sad when the week is done

but till then be happy, never despair again
remember schoolwork to you is foreign

i wish you the happiest of spring breaks
have some fun, no matter what it takes
